Dr. Di Angelo's Baby Bombshell

Hi All!
I finished reading the medical romance novels sent to me by the editor at Harlequin Mills and Boon, and my favorite was Dr. Di Angelo's Baby Bombshell written by Janice Lynn. Okay, I know. If you're not a fan of category romance, the title might put you off. But wait! Don't stop reading. This story is too good to miss. Here's what the Mills and Boon website had to say:

Dr Di Angelo’s Baby Bombshell

Janice Lynn

Dr Darby Phillips never planned to get involved with playboy Blake Di Angelo, but she needs a temporary date fast and the delicious doctor is the perfect choice! Now their little charade has turned into romance for real, and Darby must tell Blake that he’ll soon be hearing the pitter-patter of tiny feet!

Here's what I have to say: Dr. Darby Phillips is a confident professional who hasn't quite gotten over the heartbreak caused by her high school crush, the embarrassment of her stint as the school mascot, or the horror of being voted most likely to die a virgin. Determined to show her classmates the new and improved Darby she's become, she convinces her hunky partner to pose as her enamored boyfriend at her high school reunion. Most likely to die a virgin, hah! As usual, things don't go as planned. You'll have to read the book to find out what happens! (And I highly recommend that you do!)

Janice Lynn's writing style appealed to me because it's similar to my own. I like humor interspersed with drama. I like to be entertained. And that's exactly what Janice Lynn did!

Now, with renewed motivation and a better understanding of what it takes to write a medical romance storyline, I will immerse myself in my next round of revisions. Between that, and my daughter's Bat Mitzvah in 11 days, I won't be blogging much until the second week of June. (If you're not familiar with what a Bat Mitzvah is, think planning a wedding for 130 guests with a temperamental preteen who has ideas of her own (like dying her hair black before the big day!) thrown into the mix!)

Until my next post, I hope all of your days are warm and sunny....oh....and productive!

  3. Wendy,

Janice Lynn is great. You should read her first medical,The Doctor's Pregnancy Bombshell. Less sass, but a great, emotional story.

Good luck with the Bar Mitzvah!

  4. Thanks for stopping by, Janet!

Hope you enjoy the book, Christine! And my fingers are crossed the party (and the torah reading, because a Bat Mitzvah is about much more than just the party, right?) go off without a hitch!

Thanks for the recommendation, Abbi! Usually when I find an author I like I hunt down the backlist! I've never ordered from Mills and Boon before. Until I got interested in writing medical romance I didn't know that only certain medical romances were released in the US.

  5. Thanks for the recommendation for Janice Lynn's book. I also checked out her website and her book The Millionaire got rave reviews; another book to add to the summer reading list.

As an aside, my heart goes out to the flood victims in Tennessee where Janice is from.

  6. Thanks for stopping by, Dale! I hope you enjoy the book(s)!

And yes, we shouldn't forget all the flood victims still struggling to resume their normal lives.

  8. Read most of her books and liked them all. The first one Abbi recommended is good too and it's pretty weird because my critique partner recommended her to me, saying we were similar writers! Jane Millionaire had a lot of humour in it too, and the last one I read Tne Nurse's Baby Miracle was smoking hot!

  10. Hi Wendy, just read it and checked out the website. They are not accepting any queries until after 31 May. Notice he mainly represents Historical authors but might drop him a query once I've finished my revisions. You can email me at susanwilson44@hotmail.com anytime.

  11. Thanks to Wendy for the heads up on her fab review of Dr DiAngelo's Baby Bombshell. :) Wow. I'm blown away in a great way. Honestly, I love that book. Before I sold, I wanted to write for the Harlequin Temptation line (which no longer exists-sadly), and with Blake and Darby's story, I feel like I wrote a Medical Temptation. LOL. It has the humor and sensual tension of a Temptation and the drama of a Medical, well, at least, that's how I see it. :)

My next Medical doesn't have quite as much humor, but, to me, has the most intense sensual tension of any of my books so far. This couple sizzles. Officer, Surgeon...Gentleman will be out in October and really stretched my writing skills in many ways. I spent more time researching that book than any I've written and making the hero likable with the background I chose for him...well, yep, it stretched me as a writer.

In December, The Nurse Who Saved Christmas will be out and the humor is definitely back in that story. I won't give anything away, but Dirk is a Grinch who doesn't like Christmas and Abby is a do-gooder nurse who, well, saves Christmas. ;)

Thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts for the flood victims. Truly, there are so many who have lost EVERYTHING and although they had insurance, floods aren't covered on general policies. Urgh. Few who live in middle Tennessee weren't affected by the floods in some way. Actually, I'm not sure I know of anyone who wasn't affected. So, please please keep us in your thoughts & prayers.

Oh, and thanks for all the fabulous comments about my various books from JANE MILLIONAIRE (my first release, Dorchester 11/2005) to the latest Harlequin Medical, Dr DiAngelo's Baby Bombshell. Much, much appreciated. :)
